85 10TH AVE, AN UNDERWATER WORKSPACE
This workspace was inspired by the Loren Eiseley quote “If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.” As a collaboration with TPG Architects, our goal in this space was to create an immersive, relaxing and whimsy experience of the deep sea world. The multi-layered glass graphics invite you to take a deep dive and experience the depths through new perspectives. Overlapped onto these images are illustrations of some of the creatures that inhabit these levels, abstracted in circles of various sizes to mimic fluid movements and organic elements.
One of the concerns from the client was ease of navigation, therefore we divided the floor plate into quadrants inspired by elements encountered in the deep sea: Coral, Water, Kelp, and Seagrass. The graphics and signage reinforce this narrative by using images and characteristics of these environments, including color and form.

NATURAL LIGHT & THE GRAPHICS
Because the offices and meeting rooms are all placed throughout the perimeter they cover a lot of the windows that would provide natural light to the rest of the workspace. As we designed the graphics we were mindful of their opacity so that natural light would be able to shine through and even imitate light shining through the water.

THE NATURE NOOK
The Nature Nook is a space to reload and relax during the day. The graphics on the outside mimic a greenhouse with varying levels of opacity to emulate textured glass and show a few sneak peaks but also provide enough privacy once you are inside.
